The car started life as a gutted 1985 325e with the previous owner having SpecE30 dreams cut short due to a new baby.
Having done many cosmetic mods and piecing together the interior over the years it was finally time to tear it down and build it to the full race car it was meant to be
After moving into the shop, the full build began in June 2023
Full reinforcement kit from SRS Components
Z3 steering rack spacer kit from Condor Speed Shop
Motor + Trans mounts from Condor Speed Shop
Flat black powder coat
Z3 steerting rack
The M20B27 was pulled in September 2023, doing what I could after work and on weekends it took about 2 weeks to get out on my own.
Refreshed the Front Control Arm Bushing mount location by grinding down with 60 grit sandpaper attachment to the oscillating tool, then sprayed with Steel-It black, and mounted the Condor E30 Offset FCAB
The stock lower control arms + bushings were in rough shape
Using a shop press to press out the old ball joints the sleeves from the wisefab kit could be inserted
Tig welding the sleeves in
The arm was then sanded, sprayed with SteelIt Black, and the rest of the wisefab kit could be assembled
Pressing the ball original joints out is extrememly difficult (in my case at least), they have 30+ years of rust and grime and do not want to come out. Even a local shop gave up. But after reinforcing the press, using lots of penetraing oil and heat they will come out. Just be patient and have proper protective gear, because when they do come out they come out like a rocket.
The kit from WiseFab is only for the inner ball joints, but they have "Spares" that you can piece together to get the right parts for the outers too.
For the inners you need a complete set (2 total) of their "Front Lower Control Arm Upgrade Kit" SKU : WF036_230A linked below
For the outers you can either piece together everything in that kit minus the "Control Arm Inner Joint Shaft V2, WF036_920" and supplement for the "Conical Bolt D14 L60, WF365_902" found in the "BMW E30 E36 Front Rally Lower Control Arm Kit",
Or you can order another complete set of "Front Lower Control Arm Upgrade Kit SKU : WF036_230A" and add in the "Conical Bolt D14 L60, WF365_902" to have spare inner shafts. At the time of writing this the price worked out the same and you got an extra inner shaft, so this is the direction I went.
The Ground Control 5 Lug Kit and the MRT Engineering Tie Rod Ends showed up over the holidays, and was able to get everything hand tightened together.
